Deborah’s Palm Partners with Gunn High School Students for 2014/2015

Gunn HIgh School LogoLast Fall, Deborah’s Palm was approached by Cristina Florea, math teacher and advisor for a new club called Gunn Brand for You (GB4U). The brainchild of Ms. Florea, it is meant to involve and teach students about applied business management. They chose to “adopt” Deborah’s Palm, to learn about the different aspects of running a nonprofit organization, such as operations, finance and marketing. Under the tutelage of Ms. Florea and Santa Clara University business professor Buford Barr, they are partnering with us to do certain tasks, helping us and learning in the process. They also offered to co-partner with us to put on a Gala Fundraiser, on May 17, 2015.

Here are the first set of pictures we received from the Gala Fundraiser that was held last Sunday, May 17, at the Mitchell Park Community Center. Thank you to Melinda Hom, who took these great photos!!

Deborah’s Palm has its own YOU TUBE Channel!

We made a great video to show at last year’s Gala — and it’s all about our Four Pillars of Support: Counseling, Mentoring, Career Support and Relocation Assistance. It is a wonderful video that highlights our teachers and then is followed by testimonials from our clients that were helped by these services. Featuring Executive Director Katie Ritchey, Mark Hatasaka from the Media Center created a video about Deborah’s Palm. This was filmed last spring and early this year. Mark asked Katie about her motivations in opening Deborah’s Palm, and the second half of the 10-minute video, Katie talks about what we offer at Deborah’s Palm.
